We had the immense pleasure of flying near the ruins of the Pomesanian Chapter Castle in Szymbark. Below you can find a brief information about this stunning building.
The Pomesanian Chapter Castle in Szymbark is a fourteenth-century fortress in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, which served residential and representative functions for centuries, though it also became the site of fierce battles during the Thirteen Years’ War. Built on a rectangular plan with ten towers, a drawbridge, and an impressive clock tower, the castle was an example of medieval defensive architecture, later transformed into a Renaissance and Baroque residence. Burned by the Red Army in 1946, today it remains a permanent ruin, attracting history and mystery enthusiasts. On a nearby hill, there is the von Finckenstein family cemetery, adding even more historical charm to the place.
